ACC files case against DGFP unit director for 1.8C embezzlement
Dr. Ashrafunnesa denied the claims as unfounded after being interrogated last year.
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has initiated a criminal case against Dr. Ashrafunnesa head of the IEM unit of the Directorate General of Family Planning (DGFP) for embezzlement of Tk1.76 crore.
She was the cousin to Faizul Haque, owner of Sukorno International, encashed a bill of Tk1 crore. Her nephew, who is the proprietor of Ruhi Enterprise, received a invoice of Tk85 lakh without performing any work.
ACC Director Deputy Md Salahuddin filed the complaint in the commission's integrated district office-1 Sunday.
From 2017 to 2020, she made use of her power to make fake vouchers, and then embezzle Tk1.76 crore.
Dr Ashrafunnesa was interviewed by the ACC last year. She was interrogated by the ACC, but she denied the accusations as unfounded.
The commission's primary investigation discovered that Dr. Ashrafunnesa took a profit of approximately Tk7 million through fake invoices for fake workshops, seminars and training courses.
She is also accused of taking hundreds of crores of dollars in conjunction with contractors who offered bids for work that were never completed.
The commission discovered that 39 quotation bills of Tk10 millions were issued to the IEM chief of the unit during the this fiscal year.
